Carleen King

Carleen King is the owner of Pittsburgh's premier Soul Food restaurant, Carmi’s Family Restaurant, located on Pittsburgh's Northside. Carleen has always had a passion for the kitchen and knew one day she would own her restaurant. 

 

A Pittsburgh native, Carleen attended Carlow University for her undergraduate studies and received her master’s degree from Point Park University. 

 

Carleen is a strong supporter of the Pittsburgh community, actively serving local organizations dedicated to building strong families. Carleen currently serves on the board for Professional Women’s Network, playing an active role since its inception.

Joyce Marshall

Joyce Marshall is a Pittsburgh native, dedicated to positive growth and change within the city she loves. Joyce is currently the Senior Trainer for UPMC Health Plan.  Her path in healthcare started at Western School of Health and Business Careers, from there she worked as a medical assistant allowing her to become knowledgeable in various jobs in clinical and front office medical settings.

 

At UPMC she started as a customer service representative and has since worked tirelessly to become a leader in her department. Joyce has a passion for helping people develop into the individuals they aspire to be on a personal and professional level.

 

Joyce is deeply rooted in her community. She currently serves on the board for Professional Women’s Network, leading workshops and community experiences for professional women in Pittsburgh .
 

Shelbi White
Danielle Parson

Danielle Parson is a communications professional with a wide range of experience, including public relations, marketing, event planning, print and broadcast journalism. Danielle is a Chicago native who now calls Pittsburgh home. A graduate of The University of Illinois' College of Communications, Danielle is currently the Director of Communications for ACHIEVA. ACHIEVA is a non-profit that supports children and adults with disabilities. As director Danielle oversees all of ACHIEVA’s internal and external communications, including monthly publications, media campaigns, social media platform and video content and distribution. She works to deliver a unified message of ACHIEVA’s mission and vision to all of southwestern Pennsylvania. Through Danielle’s work, ACHIEVA receives local and national visibility as a leader in the disability community.

 

Danielle takes great interest in her community and believes that education is the key to success.  In 2016, Danielle founded Professional Women’s Network to engage and inspire women throughout the Pittsburgh region. Danielle also serves on the board for the Boys Scouts of America Laurel Highlands Council, working primarily with scouts in under-served communities. She is also an active volunteer for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. 
 

Krista Smalls

Krista Smalls is currently the Senior Manager for UPMC Insurance Services Division. Krista began her employment with UPMC Health Plan in August 2000.  She came to UPMC Health Plan with 10 years of experience in Call Center, Operations and Training.  During her employment at UPMC Health Plan she has held various positions including, Quality Analyst, Trainer, Coordinator of Call Center Programs, and Manager of Member/Provider Services.

 

In her role at UPMC, she has helped to develop and mentor employees to advance into Management positions within the organization.  Her passion is to lead and develop others to identify their true potential and achieve it.  

 

Krista plays a large role in her local community, she is the founder of Sisters connected in Christ (SCC), a local women’s group that encourages women to seek spiritual, financial and personal growth.  Krista is also a member of  UPMC’s Diversity Leadership Program and currently volunteers for Gwen’s Girls. Krista believes in building strong professional women in the city of Pittsburgh, which is why she serves on the board for Professional Women’s Network.

Shelbi White is a Child of GOD, a wife, a mother, a mentor and entrepreneur. She is the founder and CEO of A Tot’s Spot Daycare & Early Learning Center located in The Troy Hill section of the Northside. Shelbi is also a member of The ‘Be A Childcare Success’ network where she incites and motivates entrepreneurs to take their childcare business to the next level. She also mentors and provides guidance for those wanting to open and operate a child care business within the State of Pennsylvania, and helps them successfully open the doors to their business. 

Shelbi sits on the Board of The Professional Women’s Network and has played an active role since its inception. Shelbi has a passion to inspire, uplift, and give back to women of all social ethnicities to be confident, secure and climb the ladder of success in whatever profession they hold while remaining faithful, focused and fabulous!
